Velocity Credit Union recognized as one of the Best Companies to Work for in Texas

Velocity Credit Union was recently named one of the Best Companies to Work for in Texas 2009. The awards program, created in 2006, is a project of TEXAS MONTHLY, the Texas Association of Business (TAB), the Texas State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management (TSC-SHRM) and Best Companies Group. This statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Texas – those that benefit the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses. The Best Companies to Work for in Texas 2009 list is made up of 100 companies. Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Companies to Work for in Texas. The first part (worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation) consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics. The second part (worth the remaining 75%) consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. “Our goal is to be the employer of choice in the Austin community. Velocity Credit Union will be recognized at the Best Companies to Work for in Texas awards ceremony on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Texas Association of Business 2009 Annual Conference. The final rankings will be announced at the luncheon. Velocity Credit Union is one of the Austin area’s largest Credit Unions with five branches located in Austin and Round Rock. Chartered in 1947, the Credit Union serves a diverse field of membership that includes anyone who lives, works or worships in the five-county area, as well as dozens of select employer groups and associations. The Credit Union employs approximately 185 people in the area, has assets of approximately $470 million and serves over 80,000 members.
