As you are probably aware, Gov. Abbott has rescinded Texas’ statewide mask mandate and capacity limits for businesses effective March 10.
While we are all optimistic and hoping for a return to normalcy, in the interest of safety for our staff and members, Velocity will continue to operate as we have in the recent past: encouraging the use of mobile and online banking, conducting business in our drive-thru lanes (including through our new ITMs, which electronically duplicate the lobby experience of working with a teller) and opening our lobbies by appointment only, with mandatory masking and social distancing.
These measures have proven to be safe and effective, and are consistent with the current Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Guidelines.
The safety of our employees, our members and the community we serve is our highest priority. We will continue to monitor recommendations from the CDC, as well as key health metrics such as community vaccination, infection and hospitalization rates, looking forward to the day – hopefully soon – when we can open our lobbies to our members and the public again.

Circumstances and guidelines around the local “stay at home” orders and COVID-19 are evolving from day to day and week to week. As an essential business, we have remained open and accessible to our members so that they may conduct their financial business throughout this pandemic. Please be aware that we are here for you and are closely monitoring the situation every day.
Currently, we do not have a date for re-opening our lobbies to public traffic. We’re open for business and have multiple channels for you to reach us and your accounts, including our drive-thru service, ATMs, contact center and all remote channels.
If you do require a face-to-face lobby transaction (such as access to a safe deposit box), you can call us to make an appointment, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. Considerations will be taken on a case-by-case basis.
We have a team at work making plans to re-open our lobbies. They are doing everything possible to anticipate and prepare for an orderly and safe return. When that time comes, we will most likely employ the following measures:
- We will require visitors to wear masks. We will provide a disposable mask for those who do not have one.
- We will observe social distancing between members and employees.
- We have already installed acrylic screens at teller windows.

We will continue to do all we can to help ensure the safety of our members, employees and the public. In that light, we want you to know that we have taken steps to ease the burden some are feeling during the COVID 19 crisis. This includes:

As the COVID 19 public health crisis continues to evolve, we want to assure you that we will be open and here for you regardless of other restrictions.
To reiterate, our drive-thru service, ATMs, contact center and all remote channels remain open to our members.

Keep in mind that as a federally-insured financial institution, all of your deposits are insured up to $250,000 and backed by the full faith and credit of the federal government.
Branch Lobbies Temporarily Closed
Currently, Velocity Credit Union branches will be open for drive-thru service only, and only during normal business hours — Monday-Friday, 7:30 am-6:00 pm, and Saturdays, 9:00 am-2:00 pm. We are taking these actions in response to the health crisis of COVID-19 and for the safety of our members and employees.
Although our lobbies are closed, we are committed to continuing all other services. Electronic services, online banking, direct deposit, ATMs, online bill pay, remote deposit, plastic card services and all other services will remain in full operation.
Drive-thru locations remain open at all of our branches with drive-thru lanes. Our Brodie Oaks branch has no drive-thru. Please visit one of our other locations where drive-thru lanes are available.
Certain lobby-only banking services, such as safe deposit box entry, will be available by appointment only Monday-Friday, 9 am-5 pm. Considerations will be taken on a case-by-case basis. Request appointments by calling 737.237.1429.
For the safety of everyone, please do not request a lobby visit if you:
- Are at risk for having been exposed to, or have been diagnosed with COVID-19
- Share a household or close relationship with someone who’s been exposed or diagnosed
- Have recently traveled internationally or domestically
- Have any of the common COVID-19 symptoms: cough, fever of 100.4 or higher, or shortness of breath.
If you have an appointment to visit any Velocity branch locations for any reason, the following procedures must be followed:
- All visitors will be required to wear face masks that cover their nose and mouth the entire time they are in the building. We will provide a disposable mask for those without one.
- All visitors must complete a health screening (non-invasive temperature check and health questions) prior to being admitted into the facility.
