Austin Humane Society Receives Donation from Velocity Credit UnionThe animals at the Austin Humane Society received a special post-holiday gift from Velocity Credit Union after they donated $6,675 to the efforts of the animal shelter, the largest no-kill and non-profit pet adoption center in Austin.

The credit union, which has been a supporter of the Austin Humane Society for several years, ran a post-holiday loan promotion from January through March and donated $5 for every approved application.

“We came up with the humane society tie-in because the promotional postcard pictured a puppy all tuckered out from the holidays,” said Velocity Credit Union CEO and President Debbie Mitchell. “The donation idea was a natural.” The credit union has shown its support of the Austin Humane Society through the years in the form of donations, as well as by sponsoring events benefitting the city’s four-legged friends, such as the 2011 Rags to Wags Gala.

“We are so grateful here at the Austin Humane Society to have such a fabulous partnership with Velocity Credit Union,” said Frances Jonon, executive director of the Austin Humane Society. “Their generous support and great dedication to our mission has saved so many lives and continues to make a lasting impact on animals in our community.”
