Tips for Protecting Your Velocity Membership from Fraud and Scams

Safety Tips

Fraud attempts are on the rise across Texas, and scammers are actively targeting Velocity Credit Union members. Staying informed is your best defense. Here are some of the most common scams and how you can protect yourself:

  • Spoofed Calls
Scammers are faking Velocity’s number (512.469.7000) to gain your trust. If a call seems suspicious—hang up and call us back directly.
  • Phishing via Text & Email
Fraudsters may send messages that appear to come from Velocity. Never click unfamiliar links or share your login credentials.
  • Coin Investment Scams
Scammers often pose as trusted sources, promoting fake coin investments with “guaranteed returns” or “exclusive offers” to pressure quick decisions. They may demand payment via crypto or wire transfer—methods that are difficult to trace or recover. Always verify before investing.
  • Zelle & Wire Transfer Scams
Members have been tricked into sending money to themselves or to fraudsters pretending to be loved ones. Velocity will never ask you to move money this way.

Stay alert. Stay protected. Stay Velocity.
