Toys, books and a little, red wagon among items distributed to young members

Thank You CardFor the second straight year, Velocity Credit Union played Santa to young members, granting “Velocity Wishes.”

Throughout the holiday season, the credit union encouraged Velocity Youth Club members aged 17 and younger to submit a wish at any of Velocity’s six branches or by email. This year, more than 100 wishes were collected. Many of the requests were lofty and touching, with variations on hopes for “world peace.” Others simply requested books or a favorite toy.

Wishes granted included Legos, book sets, Nerf toys, and a variety of games.

Parents of Ryker, a 9-month-old infant who had spent more than half of his life in the hospital, wished for a Red Radio Flyer Deluxe Wagon.

“He would love a Radio Flyer wagon with a seat belt and sun cover so that mommy and daddy could take him for rides outside with his favorite dog Cosmo,” the child’s parents wrote.

Velocity elves were thrilled to fulfill that request and to help bring joy and holiday cheer to other member families, some of which faced difficult end-of-year financial straits. These folks were especially delighted to learn that their children’s wishes had been granted.

“Thank you so much for my wagon,” Ryker’s parents imagined their child writing in a thank you note. “I can’t wait for it to be a little warmer so mommy and daddy can take me out!! Thanks for making my Christmas wish come true.”

“It didn’t matter if you were a member for a day or several years,” said Nico Ramsey, Velocity’s community relations specialist. “All youth wishes were read and brought so much joy to our North Pole branch elves.”
