Member Update: 3/27/20

Dear Members,

As anticipated, this week, “Stay at Home” orders were issued by the City of Austin, Travis and Williamson Counties. Restrictions in place limit in-person social interaction and the closing of non-essential businesses.

We want to reassure you that as a financial institution, Velocity Credit Union is classified as an essential service and we will remain open. The precautions and procedures we put into place last week, including closing our branch lobbies to traffic, are in line with these restrictions. Velocity drive-thrus, contact center and all remote access channels will remain open and available to our members during this situation.

We will continue to do all we can to help ensure the safety of our members, employees and the public. In that light, we want you to know that we have taken steps to ease the burden some are feeling during the COVID 19 crisis. This includes:

For Personal Loans:
• Lowering our interest rates by 3% across the board
• Extending time to first payment (up to 90 days)
Additionally, we are waiving a number of fees, including those for Skip-a-Pay.

As the COVID 19 public health crisis continues to evolve, we want to assure you that we will be open and here for you regardless of other restrictions.

To reiterate, our drive-thru service, ATMs, contact center and all remote channels remain open to our members.

Online banking offers a multitude of functions. Please ensure you have access to online banking and our mobile app. Save yourself a trip and bank online!

Drive-thru services include:
• Cash withdrawals
• Check deposits
• Transfers
• Loan payments
• Transaction details
• New/replacement debit cards issued and PIN assistance
• Issuance of teller/guaranteed-funds checks

Our ATMs are available 24/7, and offer many of the same functions:

Branch Lobbies Temporarily Closed

Currently, Velocity Credit Union branches will be open for drive-thru service only, and only during normal business hours — Monday-Friday, 7:30 am-6:00 pm, and Saturdays, 9:00 am-2:00 pm. We are taking these actions in response to the health crisis of COVID-19 and for the safety of our members and employees.

Although our lobbies are closed, we are committed to continuing all other services. Electronic services, online banking, direct deposit, ATMs, online bill pay, remote deposit, plastic card services and all other services will remain in full operation.

Drive-thru locations remain open at all of our branches with drive-thru lanes. Our Brodie Oaks branch has no drive-thru. If you bank at our Brodie Oaks branch, please use our online services or a Velocity ATM, or visit one of our other locations where drive-thru lanes are available.

In-Person Appointments

Certain lobby-only banking services, such as safe deposit box entry, will be available by appointment only Monday-Friday, 9 am-5 pm. Appointments may be made by calling 737.237.1429. Considerations will be taken on a case-by-case basis.

For the safety of everyone, please do not request a lobby visit if you:

  • Are at risk for having been exposed to, or have been diagnosed with COVID-19
  • Share a household or close relationship with someone who’s been exposed or diagnosed
  • Have recently traveled internationally or domestically
  • Have any of the common COVID-19 symptoms: cough, fever of 100.4 or higher, or shortness of breath.
