Be a superhero to local kids

Be a superhero to local kids

This Sunday, September 15, our friends at CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Travis County are hosting their 10th annual Superhero Run 5K & Kids 1K at the Broadmoor Campus near the Domain in Austin. In addition to the races, the event features a dance party and adult/children/pet costume contests with trophies and prizes.

Why a superhero theme? Because, to so many children in our community, CASA volunteers are just that! CASA is not your typical volunteer opportunity — the organization advocates and acts as a voice for abused or neglected children. When the state steps in to protect a child’s safety, judge-appointed, trained CASA volunteers make independent and informed recommendations to the court. Proceeds collected from this event go toward providing the tools necessary to help train those volunteers to be effective advocates for these kids.

CASA Superhero Run 2019

In addition to racing, you can bring your super-pup (we know he or she is able to leap tall hydrants in a single bound).

Are you ready to be a hero? Velocity staffers will be running and we challenge you to sign up today and join us! Register at www.casasuperherorun.com. Use promo code Velocity19 at checkout to get $5 off your registration for the 5k or Kid’s 1k. Or make a donation here.

Can’t make the race? That’s okay — become a CASA advocate! You can learn more about and apply for the organization’s different volunteer roles at www.casatravis.org/volunteer, or you can RSVP for an upcoming Volunteer Info Session at www.casatravis.org/infosession.
